Definitely No Ducks!

Definitely No Ducks!, the sequel to Duck For A Day, is proving very popular here at My Book Corner.

It is a great book for those who are new to chapter books, and makes perfect bedtime reading fodder for little listeners.

Definitely No Ducks sees the return of Abby and Noah's favourite teacher. The quirky Mrs Melvino, her very jingly earrings, and her pet duck Max are all on hand as her class prepare for the biggest assembly in the history of assemblies.

A destroyed Antartica display combined with a very unsympathetic principal, could mean the end for Mrs Melvino and Max at this school ...

Meg McKinlay's plot develops at a steady pace with a few twists and turns, making it an engrossing storyline for her readers.

You'll know that Noah was one of my favourite characters from the prequel, Duck For A Day. I adore how McKinlay has developed his character in Definitely No Ducks! I was cheering him all the way!

The school environment makes this a perfect book for young readers. My Book Corner found it thoroughly enjoyable - you'll love it!

Definitely Ducks!

Definitely No Ducks is a great follow on from Duck for a Day - the first chapter book my son and I read together. Not only is this a gripping story with familiar and fabulous characters but setting this in a class room is genius for an early reader. There is some sort of magic in reading about assembly, news and class presentations when the reader is living a parallel life. We loved this book - again it was the perfect medium for progressing into chapter books, the story seems to float along on imagined visuals and the pace is just right. A chapter a night is a great way to find out why there should definitely be a duck in Mrs Melvino's class.
