Hubble Bubble Granny Trouble

Full of imagination and a quirky sense of humour - this picture book is inspired by Tracey's own childhood memory of believing "countless old ladies were witches" ...yep, I think a few of us have been there!

It's the humour in this one - from both the prose and the illustrations - that really make Hubble Bubble, Granny Trouble a really enjoyable picture book.

All through out our main character knows, "My granny's kind of different" however she never actually comes out with the word 'witch'.  Instead this is implied - and this is where the humour comes from.

Granny makes icky soup with "slime and sludge and bits of froggy-poop!' She drives a car with "no roof or seats or wheels - it's really most bizarre!" - if your little one does not get that one straight away, the fabulous illustration by Joe Berger will certainly put them on the right track!

The reader follows the narrator as she tries to make her granny more 'normalish' ... beginning with a make over. Love the page where she tries introducing her to knitting ... no prizes for guessing the type of black hat granny knits - great fun!!

Joe Berger's illustrations for Hubble Bubble, Granny Trouble not only help to communicate the story, but they also add another dimension due to many quirky details - such as the tadpoles on the teapot and the frog in the cookie jar.  Granny is portrayed as a fun, young and very non-scary granny whom I'm sure many kids will adore.

This is a really entertaining picture book with plenty of details and humour in the accompanying illustrations.

Hilarious!

This book is fun and an absolute delight to read. Children will enjoy the quirkiness and is definitely one that you would want to read over and over. The illustrations are also perfect and compliment the text.
