Since this appeared on our bookshelf curtesy of Nanny this has been a sure fire hit in this house - so much so, that the book is so worn outloved we are going to need a replacement very soon.
The catchy rhyming tune provides the pace to this book, creating memorable lines that we all join in with.
Sam and Dad go to fly a kite, Dad won't let him join in - he is "too small". Dad gets pulled up in the air by the kite and as he flies over the town, a whole range of characters grab hold of the kite's string in an attempt to pull him down - but they all get lifted in to the air too. No prizes for guessing who saves the day - Dad isn't always right!
The repetition of the characters on each page, culminating in a nice long list, help younger readers to remember the text and participate in each reading.
Someone Bigger is frequently requested in our household, so we are not surprised to learn it has been short listed for three major book awards!
