Time for Bed, Fred!

This week we are celebrating the release of Yasmin's second book - Specs For Rex. Join us on the 14th August for an interview with Yasmin & our verdict on her new book on the day of its publication.

Time for Bed, Fred! is the delightful awarding winning picture book from Irish author & illustrator Yasmeen Ismail.

Yasmeen's debut picture book made it on to many prestigious award lists, and it's easy to see why ... this is the perfect book to read out loud to little ones. It makes a great bedtime tale too.

Fred is a cheeky dog. You only have to mention the word 'bed' and he goes scampering off.

'Oh no, Fred, where are you going?'

The narrator talks directly to Fred throughout the pages, despairing as Fred hides in the flower beds & scampers through muddy puddles all in an attempt to evade bed-time. That can only mean one thing ... bath-time, resulting in a double page illustration of Fred in the bath which is just cute beyond words.

As Fred scampers around the house followed by cries of 'That's not your bed, Fred!' little listeners love to giggle. There's nothing quite like a cute dog getting into all sorts of mischief is there!

The matt pages are adorned with Yasmeen's energetic illustrations with that perfect blend between brights and muted tones.

Time for Bed, Fred! is perfect bedtime reading. If you'd like more books about mischievous dogs, I highly recommend that you check out Oh No, George! by Chris Haughton too.

Have a peek at Yasmeen's second picture book - Specs for Rex. If you know of a cheeky little one, this book is for you!

It's time for bed. But will Fred go to bed? You bet he won't! From hiding up trees, and splashing in muddy puddles, to hiding in the kitchen sink and disappearing behind bookshelves, Fred will do ANYTHING to avoid bedtime. He would even prefer to have a bath. But what's this? All that running around couldn't possibly have made Fred sleepy ...could it? A delightful bedtime book, destined to become a classic.
