Emily Rodda has penned a bright page turner of a chapter book which is perfect for older primary school children. Telling a delightful tale of a community joining forces to save their town, Bungawitta is an uplifting story full of humorous snippets from some quirky characters.

A delightful addition to the Violet Mackerel series which I couldn't wait to get my hands on. The fear with any new addition to a much loved series is that it won't quite hit the same spot, however Anna Branford has really excelled with Personal Space, which seems to be growing in parallel to Violet's fans.

Set in the mysterious Victorian London with fantastical glimpses in to the future, Twelve Minutes to Midnight is a fast moving mystery and adventure novel with plenty of twists and turns.

The Children of the King by Sonya Hartnett is a multi layered intriguing novel which captures the horror, isolation and frightening aspects of WWII from a child's perspective. Intermingled with the power, destruction and ruthlessness of England's regal history, more specifically the path to the crown taken by Richard III, this is a fascinating novel.

There is a plethora of gorgeously talented authors who are writing novels in verse. I am taken aback by how effective this is in capturing true emotions, character and atmosphere. Think Toppling and Cinnamon Rain. The Weight of Water by Sarah Crossan, featuring a beautiful cover by Oliver Jeffers, is a truly beautiful story eloquently delivered in poignant verse. 

The Best Day of My Life is told from the viewpoint of Valli. How old? Well, she doesn't know. Valli was born in Jaharia, India a place filled with coal and poverty. She survives, she gets by ... just. 

This stunning début novel from Australian author Emma Cameron is perfect for the YA audience. Cinnamon Rain didn't take me long to read as I couldn't put it down! Intriguing, heartfelt and eloquently written, I loved it.
