Perfect New Hot
Perfect, a picture book created by Nicola Davies and Cathy Fisher, deals with a topic I haven't seen before in picture books - the reaction of an older sibling to the arrival of his little sister, who is disabled. Both Davies and Fisher have created a tender book which approaches the topic in a powerfully brilliant manner.

The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight from Elli Woollard and Benji Davies is a wonderfully upbeat picture book about dragons and knights told in delightful rhyme. Oh - and there's Benji Davies's quite fabulous map at the beginning ... who doesn't adore a book with a map?!

My Book Corner is absolutely delighted to welcome fellow picture book fanatic, Kerry Trickett to our review panel.  Kerry is an ex-primary school teacher and advocate of reading stories aloud to children. She writes, reads, reviews and tweets about picture books (and once even made a picture book themed cake!). She is an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) where she enjoys contributing to two picture book critique groups and attends writing masterclasses. Kerry is passionate about stories that fire the imagination and inspire a love of reading from a young age. Her reviews are on stories that she has enjoyed sharing with her two young children and have passed the “Again!” test with flying colours. For her inaugural review, Kerry has selected Little Home Bird by Jo Empson.

Wolfish Stew is a cheekily funny picture book from Suzi Moore and Erica Salcedo. Told in brilliant rhyme it tells the tale of Grey (a rabbit) who must venture into the forest for berries. But. He must look out for Blue wolf.

Odd Bods is the début picture book from MG writer Steven Butler, together with illustrator Jarvis. 'Ava is an odd bod'. Turns out Boris is too, and Duncan. Then there's a whole collection of characters, a different one popping up on each page, together with an announcement of their own delightfully quirky habits / nature.

Huge welcome to Sarah Broadley, who is My Book Corner's new middle grade book reviewer.  Sarah mainly writes rhyming picture book stories for younger children but regularly dips her toes into the waters of other genres if the tea is hot enough and she's had enough sleep. Sarah has been a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) since July 2013, where she co-ordinates the middle grade and picture book critique groups for her local network in South East Scotland. You can find out more about Sarah over on her website. For her inaugural review for My Book Corner, Sarah has selected MG Leonard's début Beetle Boy. Prepare yourself for beetle mania!
