I fell in love with Joel's blog quite some time ago, pre My Book Corner.  The inspired ideas, creativity, amazing pictures and the FUN captured my attention even though I am a little bit challenged in the craft skills department. Ultimately Joel's ideas work - after all he has created them with his own children. Made To Play! is exactly what you need for a present with a difference - something which is modern, quirky and sure to be used over and over.

I first discovered Boori Monty Pryor three years ago via 'Maybe Tomorrow'. When I saw his name on 'Shake A Leg' I was eager to get it home and introduce it to my children.  This is an entertaining and educating read - a must have.

The beautifully soft illustrations do help this book to appear quite magical.  Put briefly, it is a story about friendship and flowers!

Two big talents in their respective fields have collided to create a beautiful work of art.

Emily Rodda has penned a bright page turner of a chapter book which is perfect for older primary school children. Telling a delightful tale of a community joining forces to save their town, Bungawitta is an uplifting story full of humorous snippets from some quirky characters.

No Bears by Meg McKinlay and Leila Rudge is a gorgeously styled picture book capturing the oh so feisty determination of a little girl determined to have NO bears in her book!

A delightful addition to the Violet Mackerel series which I couldn't wait to get my hands on. The fear with any new addition to a much loved series is that it won't quite hit the same spot, however Anna Branford has really excelled with Personal Space, which seems to be growing in parallel to Violet's fans.

Jon Klassen's latest collaboration is with Ted Kooser, America's Poet Laureate from 2004 until 2006. Jointly they have produced a delicate yet powerful picture book entitled House Held Up By Trees.

My Book Corner's verdict on Davide Cali's 10 Little Insects? Just too funny!! Witty, fast paced and riddled with clever one liners, this one is a riot! Due for Australian release on 1st June 2012, we're beaming with happiness at being able to bring you this early look at Davide Cali's latest collaboration.
